A new theme update was released for Pro Radio and several bundled plugins.
The new update provides quite a few new options, settings and possibilities. In this brief post we will present the innovations and advantages of updating.
Theme updates:
The main theme has a few improvements about options and a new podcasting feature.
- Now the “Streaming app icons” buttons for Elementor are correctly setting a different background, even if a gradient is set in the customizer. This means that now you are allowed to override the global styling from the customizer for the app icons setting any custom one.
https://pro.radio/shop/knowledgebase/34/4.5-Streaming-app-icons.html - Podcast cards have been improved: if setting chapter cues for podcasts, now the cards will include an Expansion 3 dots button, that will display the cues and chapters for the podcast. This will allow a listener to skip to a cue. It requires the podcast to be added in mp3 (can’t work with external sources like Mixcloud, SoundCloud, or Spotify).
- Social icons: added Discord icon. Discord is becoming every day less for games and more for every other community, so we added this icon to the options of Pro Radio social links, available from the customizer.
Inline assistant improvement
The “inline assistant” is the function that displays little blue question mark buttons to the admin, opening the related documentation page and videos if you need help doing something on your website. Its design has been improved and is now more responsive, plus the little blue dot has been slightly moved to prevent usability issues with checkboxes and radio buttons.
Pro Radio Music Player update
The new player has now a caching functionality for proxy and metadata functions. This PHP functionality can in fact be very heavy for a server, and the theme is now adding a built-in quick cache that takes the server load down by 99% if you’re using metadata source for the song titles.
Pro Radio Elementor Widgets update
Now the tracklist widget has a new Category filtering allowing to extract the latest chart within each specific category of your choice.
The 3D header widget has been updated too: we added a target option to the button, which can now open both in blank and in popup. This is especially useful for countries like Germany, where the player needs to open in a popup (for reasons that maybe in 2022 do not make much sense, but… we provide support for it 🙂 )
Streaming app icons are not taking the custom background color , overriding the customizer gradient.
Pro Radio Core update
The Pro Radio Core plugin adds all of the extra functions that are not part of WordPress, like the custom fields. Our new version improves the repeatable fields like the song lists for the music charts. Nw, a small number is added to each item, making it easier to see the track position, and an animation was added when adding new items, making it easier to manage a chart trackslist with many songs
Video Galleries post type update
Video post type now allows editing manually the views count.
Pro Radio Swipebox plugin update
This update is needed for the compatibility with the optional plugin “Elementor Pro”. The media carousel and lightboxes added by Elementor Pro, in fact, can open in their own lightbox. This was conflicting with the pro Radio Swipebox, and opening the image instead of the video. This updates resolves the conflict identifying and skipping the links that are managed by Elementor and its own lightbox.
How to update the theme and the plugins
Pro Radio has a fully automated update procedure which allows to udpate the theme in 1 single click, and allows to take an automatic backup of the previous theme version (just in case you had any code customization).
